Desi di dhinchak food: Only dhinchak, no Pooja!! Perambur comes to life with a hint of dhinchak, the good kinda dhinchak!! Done up in funky colors, quirky furnitures and wackiest mascots gracing the walls, the place looks pakka dhinchak!!

What I loved: The goan Fish Curry served  along with steamed rice is to kill for. The mutton Rogan Josh along with tandoori roti- Bliss. The quail eggs gravy was delish along with hot tandoori rotis. The mutton samosa, shammi kebabs, Chicken tikka served on top of khakra, the bao were equally wow.

The desserts, however, stole the show. The gulab jamoon cheesecake was perfection. The gajar ka halwa samosa served with cotton candy & rabdi, was mindblowing!! The plating deserves a special mention, aluminum dabba to test tubes to ceramic plates, all elements were used perfectly!

As your step into the house(built in the early 1920’s) say good bye to Chennai and say hello Madras. Done up in traditional manner-the upholstery, the beautiful Knick knacks and humongous radio blurring out 1960’s tunes had an immediate soothing effect on me. They have a gorgeous outdoor seating, complete with old iron wroung chairs(PS: Do not try to lift them), a false canopy and mango trees. The whole place is Simply Tamil and simply awesome.

What I loved: The Onion pakoda, Mysore bonda, Maggi, the Goddamn awesome filter kappi served in a traditional dabra and The Meeraka’s kulfi, the best I’ve had ever!

Chitnz sofa, glass house seating area, tile topped tables and live music, *sigh*(where was this place when I was in college) where one can head for a romantic date or for a photoshoot (all of namma ooru girls have shot their portfolio atleast in one costume here!!)

Black n white tiled walls, comfortable seating, jars filled with colorful toppings, colorful doors on the wall all come together to create a quirky setting!

What I loved: Mississippi mud pie sundae, banofee freeze sundae and fruity delight!  The ice cream had a whole portion of frozen dessert in them. The Mississippi mud pie was not your regular dense chocolate creation but it had salted peanut butter cream and gram cracker and a hint of sour cream. The banoffee pie stole the show. My friend ordered the fruit creation and seemed to love it. It was topped with pomegranate, litchi, apple, kiwi, banana and jelly!
