Chai nasta, just the name is enough to make anyone hungry! Well at least me. This one was on the top of my list weeks before they even opened up in Chennai!
Just as the name suggests, they specialize in breafast-snack kinda yummies and Street food. This is perfect place for people like me who are a lil weary about hygiene when it comes to Street food.
Located in Alwarpet, Chai Nasta shares the space with the cupcake company. It’s bang next to The Raintree so it’s hard to miss.
The decor spells Q-U-I-R-K-Y!! Bright colors, sassy wall art, eye popping sign boards, hand painted old monk bottles, colorful fairy lights overhead, funny saying on the wall, 80s & 90s pop art recreated as table tops, I can go on and on. The place is like a blast from the past.
The menu is elaborate and consists everything from vada pav to cutting chai.we were 11 of us and got to try almost everything on it. The food needs no description, it’s something we all have tried and loved. What I tried and enjoyed, the pictures say it all:
Cutting chai : Available in Elaichi Flavour, masala and ginger flavoured, we tried all three. Ginger tea won the round. Perfectly brewed and delicious.
My personal favorites were the chole naan, vada pav, maska buns, and bread pakoda.
This is the perfect place to head if one is plain craving for something chatpata or plain hungry!
A meal for two can come up to 300+ tax. Given the ambience, service, food, hygiene, I feel it’s a total paisa vasool.
